The first look seems exceptionally powerful. Akshay is seen donning a glorious saffron turban. He can be seen in a long beard with eyes full of fire and his expression is jaw-dropping. In his post, Akshay seeked blessings for Kesari which starts filming today. Kesari is Akshay Kumar‘s first collaboration with Dharma honcho Karan Johar. Dharma Productions had made an official announcement about the project a few months back. The ambitious project is based on the 1879 Battle of Saragarhi. The Battle of Saragarhi is considered to be one of the greatest battles in the history of India. 21 soldiers of the 36 Sikh Regiment fought an army of over 10,000 Afghans and killing more than 600 of them before being martyred.

This is the third time that Akshay will be seen in a turban. Earlier he had donned a turban for two of his superhit movies- Singh Is Kinng and Singh Is Bliing. Both the times, the movies fared well at the box office. But unlike the first two times, this time, Akshay will be seen in a very serious character. Interestingly, superstar Salman Khan was supposed to produce the movie with Karan Johar, but now he is not a part of the project. Akshay is certainly one actor who is not afraid to experiment with his roles. He has done offbeat movies like Special 26, Baby, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Rustom. His upcoming release PadMan is also a brave attempt that talks about the subject of menstrual hygiene. Kesari seems an intriguing subject based on a historic event. Kumar’s career is soaring to high heights of success with such unusual choices that he has made.

Kesari will arrive in theatres on Holi 2019. Don’t forget to book your movie tickets on Paytm.
