Inspired from the real life events, the film is an adaptation of Harinder Sikka’s novel Calling Sehmat. It is a story about a Kashmiri spy married to a Pakistani man during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971. Judging from the trailer, the film promises to be a nail-biting spy thriller. Alia Bhatt captures the attention from the first frame itself. From the few dialogues she delivers in the trailer, one can appreciate her grasp and hold over the Kashmiri accent. She essays the role of ‘Sehmat’ who is married to a Pakistani man (played by the talented Vicky Kaushal). In the hindsight, she is expected to pass over whatever piece of information she comes across back to India.

There are a plenty of unsung heroes who have sacrificed their lives over the years to save the country. Towards the end of the trailer, a voice over reminds us of such martyrs who may not get medals or awards but they register their valour in the history like a memory. Raazi portrays a story of one such young hero.

The power-packed spy thriller is directed by Meghna Gulzar. She is also credited for the screenplay and the dialogues in the film. Her previous outing as the director Talvar was highly appreciated by the critics and audience alike. Raazi is touted as one of her most anticipated films of the career. “Vatan ke aage kuch bhi nahi hai, khud bhi nahi” – the last dialogue and frame of the trailer sums up the whole essence of the film.
